Today is our final day in Germany so we did a little more visiting, did some shopping in Offenburg, celebrated Ailene's 13th birthday, and we will visit with Petra, Mirko and family this evening.
We visited with Manny and his wife Vera this morning. Manny and Vera and Jochen had visited Elke and John in BC many years ago. They are now married and have two boys, Henry and Anton. We made sure to update each other's contact info before we left. They are a lovely family.
I took some pictures of Petra's parents home, Heinz and Franziska. Petra says Her father spends 8 - 10 hours in the garden daily. It has grapes, apples, pears, cucumbers, roses, sitting areas, and a winter garden.
Heinz is the person who made the cabinet in John and I's home. With his garden he still has time to create masterpieces which you see displayed everywhere.
We then took pictures of Mirko and Petra's back yard. There is a vine wall that is breathtaking. I don't see this in Canada much.
Tonight we will finish visiting with everyone and tomorrow we will say farewell to Ichenheim and our friends. Everyone we have visited with has an open invitation to stay with us should they make it to Canada. What would it be like if they all showed up at once?
We have yet to get a picture of Petra and Mirko's whole family.
