Familie and Friends

Why are we travelling at 140km in the slow lane and being passed as if we were standing still?

We did another long day of driving to spend an extra day with John's extended family.  Never having meet Petra and Mirko and their kinder (children) I was unsure what to expect, especially when autobahn traffic jams, a late lunch break and a rain storm caused us not to arrive till ten.  A few hours before I had suggested we stay at a hotel for the evening and do the last couple of hours in the morning but John said he would be dead if he did.

Thus after 14.5 hours we arrived to an exuberant reception as you will see.  Unfortunately, I did not get a picture of Mirko's initial greeting.  He picked John up.

Despite the language differences we are communicating well and the understanding that this is family is very apparent.  We may have also added more family.

Pia is trying to give me a crash course in German and is keeping John busy. I think he would fit well with the Shriners.

This weekend there is a street fest so after supper, ie 6 o'clock, we will walk to the fest.  There are great expectations.
