We had a great view outside our patio doors this morning. We got to see Roman Gods. After a generous buffet breakfast we were on the road. In five minutes we crossed the border into Denmark.
It took us three and a half hours to drive through Denmark. One of the best parts of this trip was driving through a long tunnel underground and coming out on an island to traverse the rest of the waterway by bridge. You can see the lighthouse on the island in one of the photos.
Then after paying a couple tolls we were in Sweden with a quick diesel stop. We stopped for a meal at a non restaurant chain and continued on our way. We took a picture of some houses as we passed.
We turned on our navigation system. It added six hours to our trip. It caused a small worry but luckily after a few attempts we shut it down and rebooted it and it came up accurate again.
Once crossing into Norway, but by then we were only minutes away from our destination at Halden and secured a room at Park Hotel. (No speeding in Norway. Within 4 Kim's there were 3 photo radars. Our wayward navigation system was able to warn us that they were there.)
Once we signed into our hotel room we drove downtown to the peer and had supper on the wharf in the shadow of the Fredriksten Fortress. Unfortunately, we forgot our camera.
After John enjoying a beer at the front desk we retired to our comfortable room where we reviewed our day.
We saw no trolls but I might have glimpsed one behind the wheel of our car.
The view outside our room this morning.
